EPI-USE Labs appointed to enable SAP customers to have on-premise payroll hosted and managed in the cloud
In today’s digital and global workplace, managing payroll is an increasingly complex process. Global megatrends such as technology, rapid urbanisation, mobile and flexible workforces are all combining to have a melting pot of effects on how companies manage crucial payroll solutions and related tax compliance.
Technological advances are increasingly pushing organisations to find effective ways to move their payroll processes away from on-premise systems to cloud-based solutions. The advent of cloud computing and mobility has dramatically impacted the human capital management landscape. If harnessed correctly, this mobility and 24/7 access anywhere, anytime and real-time provides powerful benefits for HR managers, creates greater efficiencies, real time reporting, scalable solutions across multiple jurisdictions and significant convenience of services to employees.
In recognition of the tremendous benefits and agility of a cloud-based payroll solution, SAP SE (NYSE: SAP) has announced that EPI-USE and sister company, EPI-USE Labs have been appointed as managed service providers to enable current SAP customers to have their on-premise SAP® HCM Payroll solution hosted and managed in the cloud - known as SAP® SuccessFactors® Managed Payroll.
“Many of the complexities that come with managing a global or distributed workforce are effectively dealt with by taking payroll and human capital management to the cloud. One of the greatest assets of this particular development is that customers can make the journey to the cloud at their own pace and experience the benefits of efficiency and cost- savings without the need for a large-scale, time-consuming migration. By partnering with managed service providers, EPI-USE and EPI-USE Labs, SuccessFactors will incrementally migrate customers’ current payroll platform to the cloud without having to re-implement the entire SAP solution – essentially EPI-USE Labs will host and manage customers’ on-premise SAP HCM Payroll solution in the cloud,” explains Phillip Stofberg, CEO of EPI-USE Labs.
“By migrating payroll to the cloud, clients get to significantly decrease the cost of running payroll in-house, eliminate the need for costly HR IT infrastructure, and customers get to move from a CAPEX to an OPEX model. If you consider the vast majority of companies using the SAP platform have multinational operations, the pressure remains to gather data in real time for processing across multiple jurisdictions. Organisations need to consider the very real challenges of managing payroll and how cloud technology can address the evolving disconnects between data privacy, privacy, finance, HR, payroll and tax compliance.”
Egideon Bands, Vice President Cloud Services EPI-USE Labs explains, “When you consider that elements such as tax or legislative updates, security and software patches can now also be done without the need for on-site visits and time delays, it’s clear just how efficient – both from a financial and managerial perspective – the cloud is when it comes to operating geographically dispersed workforces. SAP SuccessFactors Managed Payroll is a cloud-based payroll solution that is migrated easily and requires no re-implementation or installation. This is by far one of the most innovative ways of managing payroll systems through a cost-effective pathway to the Cloud, whilst retaining the functional richness of the client’s existing systems.”
While enterprises may still have questions around cloud security risks especially with sensitive information such as payroll data, EPI-USE Labs has recently completed the rigorous ISO accreditation as proof if its absolute commitment to stringent security and business continuity protocols. EPI-USE Labs achieved ISO/IEC 27001 certification and completed its examination in conformity with SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402 Type I. These certifications are the result of extensive independent audits and confirms rigorous security standards used to manage the EPI-USE Cloud Platform “Unified Platform” (“UP”) and to Client Central by EPI-USE Labs.
“The independent audits and resulting certification reflect the culture of excellence we strive for at EPI-USE Labs, not only for our cloud solutions but in all our products and internal processes. Being awarded these certifications confirms the significant effort and rigor of our security-conscious principles, culture and controls for protection. As a result, customers and partners have verification that security practices are in place and that risk management is active and robust,” said Bands.
“Our focus going forward is not simply around payroll as a function, but ensuring that all the aspects of compliance, governance, control, reporting and analysis are properly underpinned with the right technology and processes. We are exceptionally proud to have been selected by SAP as a managed service provider for SuccessFactors Managed Payroll,” concludes Stofberg.
So far EPI-USE Labs was one of only three partners approached by SAP. With the focus on automation, the new EPI-USE Unified Platform “UP”, combined with EPI-USE being a world-class leader in the SAP HCM Payroll space and EPI-USE Lab's Landscape Transformation capabilities, the EPI-USE and EPI-USE Labs collaboration was an exceptionally powerful contender for SAP’s attention.
