Role: Accounts Assistant, Manchester, UK

Position overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Assistant to support our finance department. The ideal candidate will assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, including maintaining financial records, reconciling bank statements, processing invoices, and preparing financial reports.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounts inbox queries.
  • Assist with bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements regularly.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
  • Help prepare financial reports and summaries.
  • Handle data entry and maintain accounting databases and spreadsheets.
  • Respond to vendor and client enquiries regarding invoices and payments.
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
  • Assist with expense reporting and reimbursement processing using tools like OpenAir.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required by the Accounting team.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns in accordance with local tax regulations.
  • Ensure proper VAT treatment on domestic and international invoices.

Qualification required

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or currently pursuing).
  • Accounts qualifications not necessary, but it would be a benefit if you have started AAT, or have an interest in studying.

Experience and skills

  • Basic knowledge of Accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Accounting software.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Position, compensation and benefits

  • Full-time permanent position.
  • Based at the EPI-USE Labs office in Manchester.
  • Hybrid working (working from home and at the office).
  • The role will include minimal travel.
  • Market-related salary, taking qualifications and experience into account.
