G4S trusts EPI-USE Labs to carve out data from SAP systems

G4S required specialist data carve-out of SAP ERP systems in two countries

In 2020, G4S sold the majority of its cash businesses to Brink’s Company, an American private security and protection company. As part of the agreement, G4S had to separate single SAP® ERP systems in the countries where both the cash and security businesses used the same SAP ERP system.

Once split, the carved-out SAP ERP systems were provided to Brink’s to run independently. The scope included two countries and each was done as a separate project.

Flexible solution to suit G4S’s landscape transformation needs

G4S chose EPI-USE Labs’ System Landscape Optimisation (SLO) solution to split the ERP system by company codes. The approach included leveraging Data Sync Manager™ for Landscape Transformation (DSM LT) to create an intelligent data selection. Several testing cycles ensured that the data selection was accurate and that the SAP system worked as expected.

The two projects had tight timelines and formed part of a bigger project with SAP and non-SAP elements. The first project ran from May to July and the second from November to February; both had an additional four weeks of hypercare provided by EPI-USE Labs. The main partner working with G4S on the divestiture recommended us to perform the SAP carve-outs.
