Role: Technical Editor – Documentation & localisation

Role summary

At EPI-USE Labs, our documentation team writes, edits, reviews and formats technical documentation for EPI-USE Labs products and services. We also manage translations for documentation, as well as in-product text. We aim to help clients, customers, partners, and colleagues understand how to use our products effectively.

We are looking for a detail-oriented Technical Editor to refine our technical documents and in-product online help documentation. You will improve clarity, fix grammar, and ensure the correct tone of voice. You will also use AI writing tools to speed up workflows and help manage translation projects for global users. You'll work closely with developers and other teams to keep documentation accurate, including change logs, and you’ll help to bring new tools and ways of working to an established team.

Key responsibilities

Editing and writing

• Edit complex technical manuals, software guides, articles, and API documentation that span multiple EPI-USE Labs' products.
• Write clear technical content from rough engineering notes.
• Review and edit in-product help documentation.
• Work closely with software/IT developers to review and format technical comments and change descriptions into understandable change logs.
• Proofread/sense-check professional profiles and CVs/resumes.
• Ensure all text matches our brand language style guide.

AI integration

• Use AI text tools to draft, summarise, and translate content faster.
• Review AI-generated text for sense and accuracy, and to fix errors, apply corporate styling, and remove robotic phrasing.
• Build, test, and refine AI-assisted workflows for documentation tasks that the wider team can adopt.

Translation and localisation

• Co-ordinate translation projects, both internal AI-driven projects and with global freelance linguists and agencies.
• Review translated files to check for cultural fit and technical accuracy.
• Maintain glossaries and writing style guides for different languages and regions.

Required skills and qualifications

• Experience: Experience in copy editing, technical writing/editing and proofreading would be valuable, as well as cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Technical skills: Strong grasp of software tools, markup languages (like Markdown or HTML), or content management systems.
• AI knowledge: Hands-on experience using AI tools for drafting and review, with the ability to design and refine prompts and workflows over time.
• Translation: Past involvement in localisation or publishing multilingual workflows will be beneficial.
• Education: Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Computer Science, Linguistics, or equivalent practical experience.
