Client success: Creating secure test data for SuccessFactors at PostNL

Payroll data is extremely sensitive, and it's just getting more and more so. You've got to adhere to so many rules and regulations to create test sets. It's nigh on impossible. And if you sit down and do it, it takes ages. It's just time consuming. It's labor intensive, and you don't really get all the anomalies that you would usually get in a production payroll system. Initially, PostNL chose EPI-USE Labs because we went from outsourced payroll to in-house payroll, and then we wanted to go to the cloud. So we actually had to move our payroll. Usually, the problem is you've got to find the time to do it, and with payroll, there's never a good time. So with EPI-USE Labs, we were able to do it in the middle of the year, in the middle of the month, and everybody still got their money. The main challenge was we went from a third party software to SAP, and from SAP we wanted to go to the cloud. And what you have in your system is a lot of old data and old darlings, so we had to kill our darlings. And with EPI-USE, we were able to take whatever we had from an on-premise system to a cloud system. Initially, we started just for doing test data on our payroll system, but as we started using SuccessFactors, we actually noticed that there's a bigger scope for test data management. And being able to synchronize SuccessFactors EC information with ECP by using DSM and Object Sync, we can now create test data for our whole platform. So that has been a huge improvement in our day to day using of our systems. Benefits is time, because usually when you create test data, it's very time consuming. Because actually what you want is you want to have real life test data, which represents your productive payroll environment. But then you also have the problem of GDPR compliance. So you have to scramble the data. And with using the EPI-USE Labs tools, we are able to cross that bridge, mask our data, and have sufficient test data at a blink of an eye.
