Prysmian achieves efficiency and cost optimization in their RISE with SAP landscape management
EPI-USE Labs successfully assisted Prysmian in optimizing system copies, reducing infrastructure costs and ensuring a seamless transition to RISE with SAP with tailored solutions.

86% savings on target infrastructure sizing with related cost optimization

Full refresh process reduced from 48 to 26 hours

Significant cost reduction
Prysmian's journey to efficient system copies in S/4HANA
In an S/4HANA environment, Prysmian faced the challenge of creating sliced system copies of Production data for projects environments related to Mergers and Acquisitions and other activities. Initially, the company used traditional backup and restore methods, followed by manual deletion of unnecessary tables to reduce space on target systems. This approach was costly, time-consuming, and resource-intensive.
After transitioning its landscape to RISE with SAP, Prysmian continued to face the same challenge, seeking more efficient ways to optimize system copies while minimizing resource, time and infrastructure costs.
Optimizing Prysmian’s system copy and migration with Shell Sync and Client Sync
EPI-USE Labs’ solutions Shell Sync™ and Client Sync™, part of the Data Sync Manager™ (DSM) Suite, simplified Prysmian’s system copy process.
Shell Sync enabled the transfer of only repository and client-independent data to a Greenfield S/4HANA target, while Client Sync handled the selective migration of recent transactional data, master data, and client-dependent customizing. This efficient approach significantly reduced user workload, infrastructure costs, and provisioning time. When moving to RISE with SAP, despite limited access due to the platform being managed by SAP ECS, EPI-USE Labs’ solutions ensured a smooth and effective transition.
This solution proved indispensable for efficiently supplying project environments. The tangible value lies in infrastructure cost savings, especially in managing smaller sizing of Projects environments in RISE.

EPI-USE Labs helps Prysmian cut costs and enhance data management efficiency
Using Shell Sync and Client Sync, Prysmian safely selected Production data, with significantly less effort compared to traditional homogeneous system copies. This approach enabled the creation and refresh of data across various environments, achieving an 86% reduction in target environment size with SAP S/4HANA. Careful planning was crucial, as RISE with SAP’s cost model requires predefined system volumes for the contract duration. Thanks to EPI-USE Labs’ solutions, Prysmian reduced project infrastructure costs while ensuring capacity aligned with project needs and timelines.
The support provided by EPI-USE Labs was really valuable, from implementation to post-project assistance. Their training service was a game changer for us as we became accomplished in self-managing this process.
