Data Sync Manager makes sense for Swiss Sense

Swiss Sense uses Data Sync Manager™ to automate refreshes and improve data quality

Using Data Sync Manager, the team now refreshes the test environment every eight weeks instead of annually. This is a big step for us...it makes it possible for our business users and key users to have really up-to-date data for their testing.

THE SWISS SENSE CHALLENGE:
OUTDATED TEST DATA

Swiss Sense introduced SAP in 2011 and currently run SAP ECC6 (Enhancement pack 8) on HANA. They run SAP HANA on the IBM power-stack, hosted by CTAC.

In the past, one of the challenges for Swiss Sense was outdated data in their test environments. Working in the agile and fast-paced retail business with multiple projects running simultaneously, the company put off doing system refreshes due to the associated downtime. At one time, it took six days to carry out a full system copy manually. In addition, the company needed to be sure of production quality data and maintaining anonymity for GDPR compliance.

THE SWISS SENSE SOLUTION:
DATA SYNC MANAGER FOR ECC

Swiss Sense chose Data Sync Manager for ECC, resulting in a number of significant improvements for the business:

  • Reducing the system refresh time from six days to less than a weekend
  • The ability to conduct the process in-house, rather than using an external consultant
  • The option to use Data Secure to mask sensitive data for GDPR compliance

Before Data Sync Manager, our quality test environment was almost a year old because of downtime during the refresh process. With DSM, we can automate the refresh of the quality environment. And with Data Secure, we can also mask the data. This means we don’t have any sensitive data available to users in the test environment, making our non-production environment GDPR compliant.

Benefits:
independent refresh and reduced downtime

Data Sync Manager has empowered the team at Swiss Sense to refresh its testing and development environments independently rather than bringing in an external partner. There is now an automated process that takes place every eight weeks, reducing the downtime the company had faced previously. With good quality test data, Swiss Sense can now run many projects simultaneously and be reassured that its testing is really effective.

Swiss Sense Benefits

With Data Sync Manager, we can do a refresh ourselves and we can do it over the weekend.
