Test data challenges with complex insurance contracts

To ensure their complex insurance processes ran smoothly, R+V needed to run daily tests with accurate, up-to-date data from their Production system to test process scenarios. The wide range of R+V insurance contracts adds complexity, and numerous combinations need testing in the SAP insurance industry solution. 

Previously, R+V did a full system copy of their Production system for mapping tests. In a further expansion stage, test clients with a subset of data were required. Their main focus was creating a data-slice to a module or a module group, and an additional time-slice of data.

DSM for daily test management updates

R+V chose EPI-USE Labs’ Data Sync Manager™ (DSM) Suite, because there was no comparable solution on the market to map daily updated SAP test management. For R+V, the testing of business transactions in SAP ICM or FS-CD is essential. DSM allows you to copy these business transactions, including all documents from the SAP Production system, directly to the test system.

R+V was also impressed by the simple creation and extension options for business transactions. Customer-specific scenarios that were not included in the scope of delivery for DSM are created independently by R+V.

Automated process for daily test data

Thanks to DSM, R+V now has an automated procedure for generating test data daily in their SAP Collections and Disbursements (FS-CD) system. They also leverage System Builder, part of the DSM suite, to create 'empty' clients without data, and then copy specific business objects into it for testing. Today, R+V creates separate clients, such as a monthly SAP HCM test client to test payroll reconciliations.
