The challenge: Managing legacy data during an ERP migration

After running their SAP system for 13 years, Amphia Hospital decided to migrate to a different ERP solution, in an attempt to reduce their operational costs.

This process posed a significant challenge for Amphia. They didn’t want to migrate the extensive volumes of legacy data they had accumulated over the years to the new system. However, deleting the data was not an option, as Dutch tax law requires the retention of certain financial records for seven years. Amphia also needed easy access to their data from the previous year, which the finance and procurement departments relied on frequently.

To add complexity, Amphia worked with an external supplier that delivered custom content to multiple hospitals in the Netherlands, but their proprietary configuration couldn’t be transferred, making the migration even more challenging.
