Successful carve-out process for Recticel with partner Eviden

In this interview, Eviden's Bart van Assche and EPI-USE Labs' Sylvain Bernard explain how they managed a successful carve-out process for Belgian company Recticel during a strategic re-focus of their business.

"Carve-outs are a lot of change to go through for a company. If I look at EPI-USE Labs, they are very good in what they're doing. They know how to make a split so that everything remains consistent.

We understood their data. We presented the way that it needs to happen, but we also were open to be challenged.

I'm Sylvain Bernard. I have been working within EPI-USE Labs for twelve years. I'm one of the services associates.

My name is Bart van Assche. I'm responsible for the smart platform solutions at Eviden. Eviden is a global system integrator. The project that we sit together with EPI-USE Labs, Recticel. So Recticel is a Belgium company. They did the strategic refocus of their business. By doing that, they divested quite a lot of divisions.

So we did a mixture of usage of our own IP DSM-LT and a bit of standard SAP functionality to not having to reinvent the wheel. We started to analyse the data, discussed during the workshop with their business owners, and reviewed with them the business processes.

This way, we isolated and identified the different program and necessity of changes in order to execute this transformation.

We reallocated some plants that were linked to one company code into a newly-built company code. Then we did a master data extension. Then afterwards, we had to migrate the open items from that company code A to the company code B. And eventually, we went live after a couple of months execution of this program.

I think in that change, EPI-USE Labs brings on the one hand side the professionalism and the expertise, and on the other side also this flexibility which is really needed in a carve-out process."
